Wooster selected by Florida Marlins during MLB draft
James Wooster, who just finished his last season with the Alvin Community College Dolphins, was selected during the 12th round of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft by the Florida Marlins on June 8.
According to ACC Baseball Head Coach Bryan Alexander, Wooster finished the season in Alvin with a .415 batting average, 10 home runs after regional competition, 41 RBIs and 50 runs.
“I’m really, really proud and happy for him that he can go on to play pro ball, which is a dream he’s always had,” he said.
Wooster was selected during the 2009 draft by the New York Mets in the 44th round, but chose to stay at ACC for another year. This spring, “baseball’s largest and most comprehensive scouting service” Perfect Game USA ranked him as one of the top 100 players from a junior college for the draft.
